an uninterrupted extended weekend...

whooooooof!!..wat a relaxing engaging and un-interrupted weekend this has been..... as i prepare to join office tomorrow....i ponder on the rare weekend we have spent.....
lemme explain...after marriage..i think there have been many times when we got three days weekend...but usually my hubby got energency duty on on of these days....so inspite of having holidays, he had to go to the hospital or atleast had to take rounds..... and for me that was frustrating, coz i had planned trips to nearby places..and which then had to be cancelled...so i had given up hope that he will ever be free on such an extended weekend... but this time, we did get uninterrupted three day weekend...
and boy did we enjoy it....!!!
saturday was our shopping & eating out day......we went to cp ..looked around quite a bit into various shops..finally bought some nice saris for both our respective mums & then ate out at nice lounge bar that we were thinking of trying out for some time ..it turned out to be a nice experience..and i would recommend to anyone looking for good eating out options in cp..you can try out TAO , restaurant & lounge bar located in the inner circle....
sunday was sleep and booze day.......we slept off for most part of morning & after noon and in the evening stocked our fridge with lots of booze, mine was breezers and hubby went for beers..and had a nice evening at home having those!!!!

monday was family & friends day..went to visit my parents...as usual mum had a delicious lunch prepared for us.....ate quite a lot!!!...and in the evening, hubby & me met up with one of his close friends, who's also a doctor after a long time..and he had a nice time chatting with him...and i had nice time having cold coffee..coz i never understand when two doctors have a chat!!.......its so out of my sphere!!!...so i had chosen the hangout place which was barista in khan market......and while the two chatted, i had a relaxing time, sipping my coffee and enjoying the ambience....
so cheers to the extended weekend!!!

sad story of a lady with breast cancer

this is about a lady , about 45 years old who came to the out patient department(OPD) , 2 days back accompanied with her husband. She was very thin and frail and she complained about lump in the left breast. at her age , lump in the breast rings a bell about being cancer. What was astonishing when i examined her, there was a large fungating mass which had occupied almost whole of her breast and any fool can tell from miles that this was cancer!!!
i have never seen a mass so large , my question to her was for how long she had this? and she replied that she noticed the lump about a year and half back!!...this answer raised an obvious question in my mind...what the hell was she doing for so long????????!!!
and with a sense of disgust i asked the same to her husband....and astonishingly he was bothered majorly with the fact that there was a foul smell which has has started coming out from the lesion since it had bursted out of the skin for about a month..after examination, i told her husband that the lesion seems to be cancer though it required confirmation and other investigation...and more apalling was the fact that he was concerned that the smell ahould stop coming from it!!!
this is a very sad situation...for me, for the society as well as for the poor lady......it speaks volumes on male mentality in our society....the lady who should have been brought out of concern for her health about a year back is being brought only coz her body has started smelling!!!.....
there is a classification where the tumor is staged into 4 stages according to the tumor (t1,t2,t3 &t4)..but i dunno what should we call this one...t10????!!!!

i am = a surgeon

Hi
I am a surgeon.....and working at a huge 1500 bedded government facility...everyday i get hundreds (yes literally!!) patients from all stratas of society, but mostly people who are poor and below poverty line.....through my works i come across  instances of hope , despair , happiness and determination and also some very interesting cases......

I choose to pen down some of my interesting tales here....hope it raises some questions in your mind and also gives an insight to the other side of healthcare...
